Spaggiari Ducati Scuderia Corse 750 Desmo for the Street

It was always my goal to build a replica of my Spaggiari Ducati Scuderia Corse 750 Desmo racebike for the street.   I am always amazed at how the original idea starts but then morphs into a different if not better concept from once first imagined. As I have owned two 1972 Ducati 750 Bevel-Drive "Wide-Frame" Sports, my first idea was to build a cross between the best of the 72 Sport and the Spaggiari inspired 750 racer.  The engine was from a 1974 Sport but the frame was from a 750 GT which has the "wide-frame" rear-subframe like the...

1973 Ducati 750 Sport Restoration

Restoration of a motorcycle to me is an artistic challenge which is why I am drawn to Vintage and specifically Ducati motorcycles. It has come in the form of pure "basket case" projects or in the form of a bike that was changed by its original owner and the goal was to take it back to its original "glory". Such is the case with the restoration of Neil's 1973 Ducati 750 Sport. The bike was originally his brother's Sport who painted it red because he contended that all Ducati's needed to be red. He also "fashioned" handlebars as he had elected to do...

Ducati 900 ss MHR Restoration

I certainly think that it is time to add some "Red" into the conversation. Yes, I remain smitten with Ochre yellow of the original Ducati 750 Bevel Drive Sports, however, the Italian Red is certainly a dynamic and significant Ducati color. The Ducati 900 Super Sport Mike Hailwood Replica has always been a significant model built by the factory and the color scheme in my opinion is brilliant.  This is my second favorite Ducati Bevel Drive motorcycle. I enjoyed the build of this bike that came in my inventory of boxes of bits from Biggelaar Specialty Performance. I was also...

Riding Up the Mountain on a Stellar Ducati 900 "SuperSport" SSD

The weather is perfect here in the desert and I had the opportunity to take the recently restored 1981 Ducati 900 SSD to the Ducati club gathering and then up Mt. Lemmon. This is the second "break-in" ride with this bike to make sure that everything is sorted. This machine is not just a good ride but a magnificent performer  and with great looks as well.  She fired up on the first push of the starter motor despite the fact that she has been sitting for almost 3 months due to work conflicts and the normal rains that come to...

Spaggiari Ducati Scuderia Corse 750 Desmo Evolution of a Racer

After the Domi Racer Ducati 750 ss was sold to a dealer on the East Coast, it was time to focus on my Team or "Scuderia", Spaggiari inspired 750 bevel drive racer. I had a "donor" narrow frame and wire wheel set from a 900 ss and "donor" 74 Sport "springer head" engine. The Imola fuel tank came from Germany and the Imola high pipes came from "Das Partsinator" who claimed that they were factory items. May or may not be, however, I do like how much lean angle I can get with the high pipes. Also, since it keeps...
